Crispy Air Fried Chick’n Tofu (Oil-Free)



Ingredients

  • 1 x 375g pack of extra firm tofu.

  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast.

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour.

  • 2 tbsp soy or tamari sauce.

  • 1½ tsp garlic powder.

Method

  • Unwrap tofu and rinse (there is no need to drain or remove the excess water in the tofu as when the tofu cooks in the air-fryer, it is the water retained in the tofu which gives the cooked tofu it's moisture without being soggy).

  • Cut your tofu into cubes (as per the picture below)

  • In a mixing bowl, add nutritional yeast, flour, tamari or soy sauce and garlic power.

  • Add 2-3 tsp of water to your mixture and mix thoroughly, adding more water as you require until the mixture is a smooth runny consistency.

  • Now add your tofu into your mixture and mix well until all the tofu is covered. (pic below)

  • Let the tofu marinade for roughly 30 minutes.

  • Now it is time to put your tofu in the air fryer for 18 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius. (stopping half way to turn tofu over)

  • Serve with your favourite sides, mash potato and vegetables or hot chips etc…
